As an owner of a CrossFit gym, culture is our greatest determinant of failure or success. We live and die by the culture of our community, as it is a reflection of our values as a business. While we strive to provide the absolute best of products to our members, we also make it our top priority to preserve a culture that is optimistic, kind, and welcoming. I have done a fair share of weeding out negative energy through my 10 years of coaching, and although sometimes the decision is easy, many times it is not. Sometimes companies have to let go of their hardest worker, sometimes teams have to let go of their most talented player, sometimes churches have to let go of their most active member; not because they provide no value, but because they cannot learn to play well with others.
